april

My blog posts just get more and more lame... but hopefully someday they will improve in quality :)  for now, I'm just happy to be posting something :)

As most know, I love hollidays.  This easter was sad because I ended up being sick (ovarian cysts- horray) and so my elaborate meal did not get done.  I did however get these done, because I had to bring them to Young Women.  I found the idea last year and have been super excited to make them!  (use a doughnut with the tip cut off and mini oreo for the tomb, set it on a grahm cracker spread with frosting and sprinkled with green coconut)

This was one of the funest things we have done while in Memphis.  We paid the big bucks and went on a "cinderella carriage" tour.  They take you around the city and give you a little tour.  Millie of course LOVED it! (she's been wanting to do it for a while)

Mill in her  new easter dress!  she love all the egg hunts, meeting the easter bunny at the mall, and all the CANDY!!!!
Logan in his easter jumper.  Logan is 8 months old now.  His presonality is really coming out.  He is such a funny boy.  His favorite things to play with are- tooth brushes, the vaccume handle, balls, CD's, and Millies barbies hair.  He thinks he is super big and that he always has to "walk". Still hates his car seat and sleeping in the night.

Fav. photos of the week

Millie put on her "animal hunting glasses" and went out in the rain to scare the squirrels in our back yard. Awesome hair, awesome outfit, awesome pose...

Logan is a pro at feeding himself now! he just really wants to eat big food but he thinks he's a little more advanced than he is, hehe, any thing you give him besides puffs makes him gag.

Of course I couldn't resist a st. patrics meal. One thing I made was this rainbow jello. It was much cuter in person. just layer the different colors of jello with cool whip (with a little jello mixed in)... chill after each layer. Millie LOVES j-e-l-l-0 so when I saw a this, it was a must!

banana sushi

I heard about this Banana Sushi from the "friend" magazine last year. We made a valentines edition. Wrap a thick slice of banana with a strip of fruit roll up (or fruit by the foot) and put some sprinkles in the center!

felt valentine heart clips

I just made these for M. and they are super easy and fun!

How To:

1. cut 2 red circles out of felt. Mine are 1.5 inches (generally you want to cut the circles just larger than the clips you are going to cover- but I had large clips on hand and didn't want to go to the store for smaller ones, so my clip ends just hang out.

2. cut 2 pink hearts out of felt.

3. center heart on red circle and stich around with a machine embroidery stich (of course you could do this by hand if you don't want to use the machine.) The embroidery stich is usually located at the same place as the regular stich, (it's indicated with the 3 gold lines, under the regular stich) all you have to do is switch the length to "stretch" (hope that makes sense) but I love this stich. it tripples over so it makes the threads pop out. cute.

4. cut a hole in the back piece of felt. slip the aligator clip through. (again, ideally your clip would be enclosed, but I was lazy)

5. put top on sandwiching the main part of the clip inside.

6. hand stich around edges of circle with 3 strands of embroidery floss (I like to do this with the clip open so I make sure I don't stich over the outside part of the clip) ALSO**** if you are making a set, make sure your clips face 2 different directions so that your clips will be right side up when pinned in your hair!

7. when finishing I don't like to tie the knot near the edge in case the extra thread pokes out so I thread the embroidery floss through the clip and have it come out near the center and knot it off there.

I posted this quick so let me know if it doesn't make sense :)

Words on Religion by Millie

Millie is at the age where she just says all sorts of silly and rediculous things. These 2 that I want to share might be a little blasphemous so please forgive me, but they are just funny.

I came back from a run and millie runs over to the door and says "I want to go for a jog with you. Go get my racers" (her "racers" are pink canvas shoes). As I'm putting on her shoes I comment to josh that we need to email Jon (Josh's New Balance Rep) to send her some real "racers". Millie overhears and says, "yeah. John the Baptist. We need to go for our running race so we can catch up with him"

a couple days later....

brushing millies teeth and she is standing on the bathroom counter. She looks really close at the light fixture and asks with a confused face. "mom? is that heavenly father" then she peers around the side of the light fixture and says "hum. no mom, it's not heavenly father. It's just his roomates, Ilah and Ilena."

what ???

Logan

I havn't posted much of Logan, so here are a few photos of our little guy. he's 3 1/2 months now!

These were taken a month ago by my sister Tracy! She is in the BYU photo program and takes really cute pictures (I wish I lived closer and could utilize her more. If you need a (cheap) photographer, or want to visit her photo blog it's http://www.tracyhillphotography.blogspot.com/)

I love this one because he's just looking at the owl on his bouncer like it's is an old friend!

Soccer

We had Millie do the city leauge soccer this year. It is really un-official and they just kinda get out there to learn the game. She was the youngest on her team by several months so she was a little more spacey then the rest, but that made it sooo funny! She didn't particularlly like it, but she tolerated it. Millie is SOOO social! (she certanly did not get that from me) Her favorite part was for sure the "companionship" of her team mates. The picture above is her first day of practice. She had never met these kids, but yet, she would just wander up to them, smile at them and put her hand on their shoulder...

Millie was always out there doing something silly. looking around at the kids playing on the sidelines, playing in the dirt, or hanging on the goal.

There were a few times that she got pretty into it though... I just don't think she's agressive enough to go and get the ball from someone else.

sometimes she was "feelin' a little frustrated" because she would get pushed or something. Her friend Easton was on her team, and they were always fighting out there and that would make her "frustrated" too. By the end of the season the coaches realized that they just couldn't put Mill and Easton on the field together. ha ha.

Teddy Bear Picinic Birthday

Our Silly-Mill Turned 3!!! Can't believe she's getting so big! We had a 'Teddy Bear Picnic Party' for her and it ended up being really fun (and also fun to plan and prep!) M. was soo excited to have a birthday party and to have all her friends come!

invites

I've really been wanting to try out fondant but have been a scaredy cat. so, I decided it was now or never!!! It was actually pretty easy and fun! I made the bees out of fondant and then covered the cake in fondant too. Soo fun! I want to do another!

We had everyone bring their teddy bear- we decorated party hats for their bears, played Teddy-Teddy-Bear (like duck duck goose), Read the "Teddy Bear Picnic" story, had a Picnic with: Teddy Bear shaped sandwiches, Strawberries, teddy grahm snack mix (rasins, mallows, yogurt pretzils, and teddy grahm's) and of course did alot of jumping on the tramp.

We handed out Honey Bears, and gummy bears as our "party favors" (millie is obsessed with honey!)

Happy Birthday Little Mill!

Manly Weekend

.

Millie and I had a manly weekend...kind of. Friday night we had our first rugged camping experience. A blazing fire on the back porch with smores, the tent set up in the in the wild of .25 acres in our backyard, and the moonlight streaming into our tent throughout the night...or maybe that was the kitchen sink light 30 feet away. Either way, we had fun and Millie slept better than I did. After smores and ice cream, we retired to the tent for stories and bedtime. We read books on the iPad and then it was bedtime. I fell asleep in about 2 minutes and Millie played with the flashlight on the tent ceiling for about 5 minutes. And that was that. Nine hours of pretty sound sleeping. The weather was perfect at about 60 degrees.

And then today we went for a little cruise on the neighbors 50cc dirtbike. Millie thought it was great. I did too. It only has 3 gears but that little bike cruises. Mental note: Get children dirtbikes at the appropriate age - I hear they have training wheels for them. Sweet!

more Logan

Here are just a couple more photos for you- (as per request by kelly.) He's doing well and we're excited to have him home. He's a pretty calm little guy and still pretty sleepy. Mill has been a good big sister and is really good about pulling silly faces for him and checking on him while he is sleeping :)

Logan McAdams is here

Logan arrived at 12:39pm this afternoon. It was a scheduled C-section. He weighed 7 lbs 12 oz, has some strawberry-blonde hair, and screamed like a little girl until they swaddled him. He's been an angel ever since. Whit is doing really well and is about to enjoy some dessert. Millie was way excited and ecstatic to give him a present she picked out the other day. She kept saying how tiny he was and laughing. We are so thrilled and pumped for number two. I love this picture because mom and baby are smiling...even if baby's smile is like Paulie from Rocky. And Logan already has the Italian hand thing down too. - Josh

Blueberries & Swimming

Millie had a session of swim lessons a couple weeks ago. She is such a brave little girl and always thinks she can just go on her own in a pool, She's forever getting mad at us for holding onto her... so we decided we'd better get her into some lessons before she gets herself into trouble.

She LOVED swimming lessons and wouldn't even take a nap several days because she was so excited. I'd ask her why she didn't sleep, and she'd say "um... I was just thinking about swimming lessons." She loved her goggles, and loved her teachers (my V.T. has a pool and teaches at her house)

I had a good little video I tried to upload but can't get it to work :( but Millie successfully learned how to hold her breath, became very comfortable with putting her head in the water, and can even "swim" for a few seconds! She is super brave, so while the 6 year old in her class was crying about jumping off the diving board because "he was going to drown and die" Millie was just trying to cut in line so she could jump sooner!

One of Millies favorite foods is Blueberries! There is a place down in MS. where we like to go pick them. You can eat as many as you want to while picking! We got a gallon- but they only lasted about a week and a half!

And this last photos is just for your viewing pleasure... because I look so darn amazing (ha ha!) I think i must be twice as big as i was with millie! We'll add baby #2 to our family on Wednesday and we're getting pretty excited! We plan to name him Logan (after Logan Utah on my part, and after "Wolverine" on Josh's part) Still trying to decide on middle names: Felix, Christian, Gabriel, or Micah.
